The Allegheny Special

First, you’ll check in at The Blackburn for your cozy, overnight stay. When you arrive in your room, you can relax with champagne in your new souvenir champagne flutes. Then, the night is yours, as you explore the rest of Staunton. You can head to some of our biggest attractions, like The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum or see a show at The American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse.

Staunton also has an amazing nightlife and dining options. If you’re in the mood for Southern food, head to Zynodoa. For drink venues, try The Green Room or Yelping Dog. Dessert-lovers will fall in love with a scoop of gelato at The Split Banana.

The next morning, you can wake up early and head to some local breakfast establishments, like Cosette Cafe, Sweet Addie’s waffle shop, or grab breakfast at Second Draft Bistro. Grab your complimentary embroidered fleece blanket, because at 10:30am, your train is leaving the station!

You’ll be taking in the sights at your private table for two, as your train travels west, through the rolling fields of the Shenandoah Valley, bound for the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.

For lunch, choose between a smoked chicken sandwich, a traditional Greek salad, a Carolina-style pulled pork BBQ sandwich, or housemade tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. For dessert, you can try a New York style cheesecake, tiramisu, or a triple layer chocolate cake. As the train turns around in the hamlet of Goshen in Rockbridge County and makes the ride back to Staunton, you’ll be heading back home with new memories to share.

The Blue Ridge Flyer

If you’ve chosen the Blue Ridge Flyer option, your stay will look a little different than the Allegheny Special ride.
