The History

Located in the charming, historic town of Staunton, the American Shakespeare Center pays tribute to Shakespeare’s legendary theatre. His theatre was known as Blackfriar’s Playhouse and was built in 1596. The American Shakespeare Center is the world’s only recreation of Shakespeare’s original indoor theatre. The closest parking garage to the theatre is the New Street Garage, and there are plenty of lots scattered around town. Street parking is also available and is free on weekends and weekdays after 5 pm.

Tickets

Ticket prices range depending on each production and seat location. Be aware that children must be seven years or older to attend shows at the American Shakespeare Center. However, children three years and older may attend A Christmas Carol.
