You can access the bucket list-worthy Skyline Drive from Front Royal, Thornton Gap, Swift Run Gap, and Rockfish Gap. You’ll exit Skyline Drive from Rockfish Gap to descend towards Staunton. Then, pick up Route 250 and wind your way through Waynesboro and Fishersville before reaching the one and only Staunton.
I-81 South to Staunton

The most efficient way to drive from Washington, D.C. to Staunton would be via Interstate 81 South. First, you’ll follow I-66 W to US-15 S in Leesburg. Then, take exit 1A to get onto I-81 in Stonewall. You’ll follow this route until you reach US-250 W which you’ll follow until you arrive at your anxiously awaited destination—Staunton, VA.
